Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
Andy Carroll is a fantastic footballer, he'd have no trouble playing in a team that keeps the ball on the ground. The notion that you can't be good with the ball at your feet, if you're good in the air is nonsense.

Andy Carroll's biggest problem is that he's rarely fit enough for long enough

Just use him for the matches against Swansea and then return him back to the stable afterwards

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
The home game against Swansea last year with Carroll and Sakho up front was one of our best attacking displays, the two of them made an excellent partnership and complimented each other really well.

The title of this thread genuinely made me laugh.

The answer is never.. Not 100% anyway.

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
I think he'd cope well enough with playing ball to feet. Its obvious he has skill and a good technique we saw that at swansea. I cant wait until hes fully fit, see him and sackho pair up.

You really should have mentioned this before.

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
Our team and manager shouldn't be planning for when Andy Carroll is fit, that should just be a bonus if it happens.

Unfortunately the insane amount of money already wasted on Carroll and the further 20m committed to him means that the ckub can't afford to plan without him.

Thanks a lot Nark Curis and yiur business associates on the club payroll

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
Wouldn't write him off completely yet. In a combination with either Sakho of Valencia or as a impact sub he can do a job.
That is if he is fit!

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
My hope is that a lot of his injuries are caused by his battering ram style of play resulting from us continuously lumping balls up to him.

Under a different style of manager I would hope he would be required to play this type of role less often, and would potentially not find himself is as many situations that could lead to these impact injuries.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

To say he is a big lump with no mobility is quite frankly Bollocks

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
Well I will remain in the 'to be convinced' camp on this for a little longer.

I have not seen a lot of evidence that he can hold the ball up but in any case the lone striker role is as much about movement, pace and creating space as it is about being an isolated outlet for holding up play.

It would be great if he could prove that he is up to it but he belongs to a more direct style of play.

Re: When Andy Carroll is fit....
Some people still think he's just a big lump with no ability?

That goal at Swansea last season was an example of why Carroll is a very good asset to have if we can get him playing.
